Ad Campaigns And Catalogues #207

Below: YSL's SS2011 Mens Accessories are a hit and miss... the bags are some of the most boring and (dare I say) most hideous? The saving grace comes from the shoes and small accessories... love the trainers and bracelets!

Below: I love the croc print leather trainers in tan colour!

Below: Partial perforation as a design detail? Still looking good on the shoes:-) The high tops is my favourite:-)

Below: Thick wedge soles are a key trend for footwear this SS2011... YSL has many designs incorporating this trend from sandals to leather shoes...

Below: The double tour bracelet with a Y clasp is still one of my favourites... now even more so in off-white:-)

YSL Spring Summer 2011 Mens Bags, Shoes And Accessories

What do you think of YSL's latest collection of mens' accessories? I cannot help but be disappointed by the bags. There isn't any surprises for the mens' range anymore. Many designs are merely being reworked from past seasons and the new ones are nothing worth going gaga about. The new textured bag with chain and a huge YSL insignia could earn a place amongst the most hideous bags ever made for men. In comparison, the blue nylon Hamptons Tote fares so much better, although the style has long passed its desirable shelf life. YSL needs new blood to design the bags, it has been going downhill since the longest time.

Beyond the negative bags collection, the saving grace thankfully comes from their shoes and small accessories. Trainers are looking good with sporty but refine designs. Love the pair of high tops in beige and brown with all those panelling designs.

If you have been looking for an alternative to Prada's Espadrilles Brogues (since too many people have them now), how about YSL's interpretation in dark brown and black?

The croc print leather trainers in tan colour is looking promising too, combining exotic appeal with sporty attitudes. The light blue pair with perforation details are also perfect for summer days.

Yves Saint Laurent Iconic Arty Oval Ring

Who said jewellery are meant only for women. I, for one, beg to differ:-P Cos' I believe jewellery adds depth to a look and if done right, accentuate a person's personality.

I love jewellery... bracelets, brooches, rings, you name it, I probably have amassed.

So my latest acquisition in the Kevin's treasure vault... inspired by Silvia and Dottie... My very own very HUGE, YSL Arty Oval Ring in Coral. Ornate gold and embellished with a large glass oval stone, giving the ring the feeling of couture jewelry. Made for women, but when worn right, I believe any guy can pull it off. Just bear it mind, shed off other jewellery and let only the ring be your statement fashion piece.

I have officially named it my 'sorcerer' ring...time to work some fashion magic...with my fellow 'sister' ring triplets:-P Comes in 5 different colours, blue, turquoise, green, fuchsia and coral.

Fall Redhead: Smoky Eye & Red Lips

The words on the fashion street for Fall are ladylike, hourglass, form-fitting, and scarlet lips. Red lips! I love when that becomes a fashion 'must do,' so I've already been conjuring up images of a gorgeous smoky grey eye paired with a fabulous red lipstick for a fresh Fall look. Believe me it's a color palette that will smoulder against your shimmering red hair, and one that will look fabulous on just about anyone else. So here are a few perfect makeup products I've come across that will help you achieve your redhead smoulder. All available through our Sephora link...
For a shimmery khaki-grey look try Laura Mercier Eye Colour in Pewter
...and pair it with Make Up Forever's Rouge Artist Intense Lipstick in Satin Vermilion Red

For a silky smoked eye try Shiseido's Luminizing Satin Eye Color Trio in Snow Shadow
...and top it off with YSL's ROUGE VOLUPTÉ Silky Sensual Radiant Lipstick SPF 15 in Red Temptation for true red lips

Below: Something luxuriously furry for the ladies and perhaps some men
(that Versace bag is from the mens range:_P)...

Hairy
Companions: Fall Winter 2010 Bags And Accessories

PETA will be fuming mad. Ladies will gleefully brag. And perhaps some men too will join the pack. You either love or hate it.

However, fur is here to stay much to the dismay of animal enthusiasts. Designers are going in full force with their pursuit of ultimate luxury. For this Fall Winter 2010 season, furry materials are presented in its full glory by many designers on bags, shoes and more.

One thing I know, whether is it real or faux fur, the look is definitely winter and supremely decadent. So take your pick. it's time for some furry 'companions'...

Below: The new Fall Winter YSL collection sees promising pieces that will wow your wallets. Love these trainers with contrasting textures of suede, patent leather and even fur. (The blue one is my hot pick!)

Below: Vintage effect leather boots is also a welcome addition to winter wardrobes...

Below: A new 'Y' symbol design is introduced for Fall Winter 2010, cleverly incorporated as buckles for bracelets and belts... I want one of those double tour bracelets!

Below: A variant of the bracelets as featured on Japanese Magazine, Mens Club...

Below: Not too convinced by the straight-on application of the 'Y' alphabet, not a fan of huge branding... but treating it subtly with an embossed effect somehow lessen the brash branding...

Yves Saint Laurent Fall Winter 2010 Mens Shoes, Bags And Accessories

Leveraging on the 'Y' symbol now made synonymous with Yves Saint Laurent, Fall Winter 2010 season sees the brand introducing a new version of the iconic alphabet being incorporated into a full range of their leather goods. From single/double tour bracelets, wallets, travel pouches, belts, the new 'Y' icon has been seamlessly blend into the designs. I especially love the new version of the 'Y' symbol as a metal buckle (on belts and bracelets), which is both tasteful and clever.

The trainers are also worthy of mention, with contrasting textures of suede, haircalf and patent leather. Who can resist the deep burgundy red and bright blue versions, I am in love with the latter that has a touch of luxurious fur!

The signature Hamptons leather tote comes now in a khaki olive hue, keeping in line with Fall 2010 season's raging military influences.

YSL menswear may seem 'far fetch' (too androgynous for the regular male), but these accessories are understated, well designed and made for any savvy guy who appreciates the meaning of elegance.

(BTW, check out this clip featuring the new sneakers with some really cute male models and in Parisian streets!)

YSL Besace Bag

Before PS1, Alexa, or any other androgynous messenger style bags came to be embraced by women all over, there was YSL's Besace Messenger Bag. Perhaps it is this bag that spark off the messenger bag craze in women's handbag design and won its rightful place in a modern women's wardrobe.

An endearing offering from YSL that still look just as relevant a few years ago, as it is now. Especially so with this textured leather version in classic black.

How could you not LOVE:-)

Below: YSL Spring Summer 2010 Men's bags... Which one is beckoning out to you?:-P None for me, only perhaps this multi-zip leather tote... strangely interesting....

Below: It seems the ladies YSL bags got more mileage in design than YSL's men offerings...

Below: Tire print canvas totes...

Below: Hamptons Leather Tote with big die-cut circles...

Below: More totes... suede ones with multi-side buckles...

YSL Spring Summer 2010 Mens Bags

A look at the man bag offerings from YSL for Spring Summer 2010. It seems YSL man bags has not kept up with their women bag standards and these male arm candies aren't exactly outstanding. However, I do take a fancy at the multi-zip tote which is somehow strangely interesting. I am not so sure about those canvas 'tire' print totes nor the leather Hamptons Tote with big circular die-cuts. Is YSL trying too hard for the male bags? I miss those muse days...where designs are unique and simple.

Below: Another YSL leather folio to drool over?!?! Oh my...

Below: Remember this version I previously blogged about? It's called the YSL Sac Muse, thanks to a reader who sent me pics of his newly acquired bag! He even sent over a pic of the product tag with useful serial numbers for anyone looking for the bag. Thank you Pornthep!

Another YSL Mens Leather Folio To Lust For!

Just when I am still lusting over the YSL Leather Folio I blogged about here (it's called YSL Sac Muse! Thanks to my blog's reader Pornthep:-), I spotted another version from the brand which is equally appealing!

Instead of the Y panel signature of the Muse range, this new version spots a converging leather stripes that forms a Y branding. In the street style pic, the guy seems to be carrying a folio size version without the leather hand strap. However, I found a pic of the pochette size version with the hand strap. I much prefer the folio size and I want!

YSL will open in Marina Sands soon with classic menswear range to be stocked, while the runway collection is going to hit Club 21 Men's shelves next season:-) I am excited.

Lastly, Pornthep not only enlighten us about the name of the previous folio design, but he has snap a pic of his latest YSL shopping conquest thru the help of his friend in Paris (dun we love friends in major fashion cities:-P)...and even took a snapshot of the product tag which has all the serial numbers, in case anyone of you are searching for the YSL Sac Muse. Thank you once again for all this useful information! My readers are the best:-)

Designer Marc Newson Wears YSL Fall Winter 2008 'Blanket' Coat To YSL Womenswear Show

During the recent YSL Fall Winter 2010 Womenswear show in Paris, I spotted famed industrial designer, Marc Newson attending the event wearing a gorgeous and cosy YSL Fall Winter 2008 Men's Coat. Gorgeous colour and design that almost feels like you are wrapping up warm and toasty in a blanket. Love the red trimming and the large plaid pattern. I want the coat! But kinda too late now since the coat is from a few season's back.

Darn! 'Nostalgia' lust for fashion is tough. You cannot find what you want in stores now. The feeling of missed opportunity is never nice:-(

Below: I want this YSL Leather Folio... The YSL store in SG do not stock this...such a pity.

Below: Why did I not get this Prada Ruched Leather Clutch when it was in stock?!?! Want this as well!

YSL Leather Folio And Prada Ruched Leather Clutch

I am in my clutch mode yet again. Searching high and low for another clutch bag to take to parties. It is cumbersome to go to parties carrying a tonne of 'baggage'. So clutches makes a lot of sense in these situations and you look great with them while not parted with your belongings.

Here's 2 clutches that I am drolling over...

The YSL Leather Folio is a handsome clutch for a guy. It's understated and structured to hold its shape. The size is just right to hold enough without getting in the way of your drinking and socialising at functions. It will go well for lots of combinations of styles, from casual to formal. Blazer looks, cardigan and shorts, the possibilities is endless. The clean lines of this man clutch also ensures you will not be mistaken carrying a women's handbag. Neither does it make you in the league of all the older genetlemen with their very 'mature' looking clutch bags. This one is chic and modern!

As for the Prada Ruched Leather clutch, the design is more radical. But there are no frilly details to make this too feminine, so a guy can pull this off as well. The leather is divine to touch as what Prada leathers should be. However, since this is from a couple of seasons ago, tracking this arm cnady is going to be a challenge.

I need a clutch! Will update here once I find my perfect 'man' clutch:-)
