Below: Viktor And Rolf Mens Fall Winter 2010 Shoes and Accessories...

Viktor And Rolf Fall Winter 2010 Mens Shoes + Accessories

Dutch duo Viktor And Rolf (Designers Viktor Horsting and Rolf Snoeren) has been producing avant garde and highly conceptual collections (sometimes pushing fashion tolerance) since 1993. Their sense of quirk and surprise in their work can be easily identifiable even thru their 'out of this world' upside down flagship store decor in Milan. That speaks volumes of the designers' aesthetics and couture like sensibility.

Having done menswear for many years, the menswear line has recently expanded into mens footwear. I guess in part due to Renzo Rosso —owner of Diesel, chairman of Only the Brave (OTB)— taking a controlling stake in their company. Viktor & Rolf stated that this deal is meant to allow their company to put out a wider range of products and to open more stores. I was having high expectations for a freshly start up shoe line from the brand since their forte is in ready to wear. But from these new lookbook pictures, I can say, my interest has been sparked...

These new Fall Winter 2010 arrivals for guys embody the same quirk and surprise seen in their RTW pieces. I find the puffy and quilted trainers something of an attention grabber. It's bloated and huge... a show piece in its own right, although I wonder how it will look on a real person. But in the name of fashion, I have confidence some fashion forward fanatic will be grabbing a pair nonetheless. Another outstanding piece is the iridescent/pearlised metallic trainers which achieved a unique colour and texture for mens shoes design. They look like moon boots to be tread out in space:-P

As for formal footwear... the duo's designs shines like a beacon. There are many beautiful pieces to tempt. I love the black crushed velvet ankle boots or the emerald velvet lace-ups. It's perfect luxe for the cold season with a dash of debonair. Besides velvet fabric, there are also bi-material options with leather and felt or leather and wool. If you want more detailing, those designs lined with metal round studs are gorgeous and in tune with the Napoleonic military trend happening this fall.

Besides shoes, belts are also offered in the collection. They come in many formats, of course with the metallic iridescent version being my favourite. I also adore the use of the brand's logo in a wax seal as belt buckle. Something classic with an elegant touch, masking the brashness of using logo branding.

It's a pity Club 21 no longer stocks the brand. Things have taken a better turn in terms of wearability for Viktor and Rolf's menswear the past 2 seasons.

Below: Viktor and Rolf Spring Summer 2010 Menswear... Love it!

Below: I need that dual layer collar blue stripe shirt! Or the entire look! The dotty shoes are hawt:-)

Below: The subtle reveal of 'boxer shorts'?!?! I find this look very interesting, while not being tacky and exhibitionist:-)

Viktor And Rolf Spring Summer 2010 Menswear

Such a pity Club 21 Mens Singapore do not carry Viktor and Rolf anymore. I absolutely adore the new Spring Summer 2010 mens collection by this 'quaint' Dutch label. The past few seasons have been a tad too over the top for regular guys to pull off, but this upcoming Spring Summer 2010 season is a winner in my books. Relaxed casual styles with their signature twist. I love those double layer shirt collars. Even the lace-up shoes are a sight to behold. I dig almost everything from the collection. Very wearable and the fabrics seem so appropriate for warm climates like Singapore's.

I am also paying particular attention to the look where the 'boxer shorts waist band' is revealed above the pants. Subtle controlled detail disorder as they call it...:-) but nonetheless very interesting. I am not sure if that is part of the shirt but I like it. It may seem like a 'cheesy+ exhibitionist' concept, but Viktor and Rolf pulled it off well in their own 'gentleman-ly' way. The subdued colour ways which is perfectly matched helps in bringing a cohesive visual transition, and does not make the outfit tacky at all. Sunday brunch in quaint Englishmen ways, anyone for tea?

Viktor and Rolf can be purchased online at The Corner.

www.thecorner.com Last Sale Picks...

Sometimes one of the best buys are found at the last phrase of sale season. And it is only those lucky few that will be about to bag an exceptional deal as popular sizes would have all been sold out. So if you managed to spot any goodies still left during the final sales...you know you are destined to own these sweet finds:-P

www.thecorner.com is one online retailer specialising in menswear. Powered by YOOX, you can be sure your transactions are secure, prompt and fast. I had experience the fast delivery and email response when I ordered my Martin Margiela Twisted Nail Pendant Necklace recently. So no problems there:-)

However, The Corner's prices are usually much higher when it is at full retail. They have so many drool worthy pieces which is best to acquire during sale time. Especially final sale phrase.

I managed to find 2 gems which I am loving a lot. Drool over Neil Barrett's metallic blue lace-ups and Viktor and Rolf's ultra cool seersucker check blazer. Small sizes always run out first during sales and these still have good sizes left. Bravo!

Check out these 2 pieces...grab them while you can!
