Fendi Peekaboo Bag In Light Grey

Peek-a-boo! It's time to let the 'bag' out of the box:-) I actually acquired this bag last July. So this reveal is long overdue. Took it out for a spin over a weekend in Jan this year and I must say I enjoyed the experience. I found the bag a chic arm companion, inviting many envious stares:-) And that's not because it's a women's bag to begin with. The design is one of the best to date from Fendi and has all the qualities of a true classic. Mine is in a versatile light grey hue which goes well with almost any colour. The metal frame on the top, adds a sophisticated bling to the otherwise understated but sophisticated design. I did however, not let one of the flap open as intended when I used the Peekaboo. It feels awkward to lug around a half open bag. Perhaps I do not want 'accidental rubbish' ending up inside the light colour suede interior:-) But I will most definitely give it a try next time I take it out:-)

I am also impressed with the workmanship of the bag. Every stitch and screw carefully put together, rendering the bag literally a work of art:-) The shoulder strap is also a welcoming option, giving tired hands a break when necessary. A woman will look amazing with this now recurring design from Fendi's bag range. But fanboys, if you dare rock it, I'd say go for it. Large ones are a good size to use as a messenger. However, one important thing to note, all new Fendi Peekaboos now comes with short shoulder straps instead of the longer ones. So it might work against the male gender unless you want to use it solely as a hand carry.

I am just happy I got mine before the change. One of my favourite bags to date. BTW, net-a-porter is one of the best online retailers! Their service is highly commendable.

Great Minds Think Alike #21

Below: Kate Hudson in a fabulous Burberry emerald mini dress at Burberry's Fall Winter Womenswear Show in London...

Below: Balmain's infamous 80's inspired emerald mini dress as worn by Natasha Poly on the runway..

Burberry vs. Balmain Mini Dress

It's not the hemlines of Kate Hudson's gorgeous emerald Burberry mini dress (that she wore to yesterday's Burberry Fall Winter 2010 Women's show in London) that catches my attention. Nor its' red carpet worthy glittery material or how gorgeous it looked on Kate.

It is the immediate recollection back to a Spring Summer 2009 Balmain mini dress in a similar emerald shade with all its bling and sparkle. Great minds sometimes do think alike, most likely unconsciously. Nonetheless, one's more demure, the other's more unabashedly 'trashy' but gorgeous.

What do you guys think?

The Man Speedy?: Mulberry Eliot Holdall

If you miss out on Mulberry's Eliot Holdall during Spring Summer 2009 season, here's a pic to make you regret you did! Hehe.

The bag actually looked quite good on a guy who's dress just right. Not too big nor small and it feels like the perfect guys' LV Speedy bag. A sportier, more masculine version that is:-P

Hermès Goodlock Clutch

The ultimate man clutch has arrived! And our now No.1 fan of Hermès bags proves that this clutch is truly TDF! Yes, Marc Jacobs beyond his many 'beach bag' birkins or shadow birkins also loves a man clutch from time to time. Seen on 2 occassions with his ultra chic Hermès Goodlock Clutch (it's women's but the design is so neutral) in black box leather, I am sold and now I want this as well. My want list for 2010 just gets longer...and it seems I am lusting more Hermès this year... oh my.

The clutch features a detachable wrist strap and supposedly a mirror on the underside of the metal clasp. Retails for approx. US$5400. *Glurps*

Below: A very nice shape for the bag...

Below: Magnetic closure for easy access to contents... and a middle zip compartment that divides the interior into 2 to get more organised:-P

Below: Comes in a luxurious and glamourous gold too! Perfect to dazzle at x'mas parties:-)

Burberry London Harwood Leather Bag

For those of you who have asked me what bag is Iekeliene (the gorgeous model:-p) carrying from the new Spring Summer 2010 Burberry London collection... well, I got a reply from Burberry!

It's called the Harwood and the large one (which Iekeliene is holding in the lookbook) retails for £1095. However, at present the stores will carry the medium version since not too many women are as tall as Iekeliene to be able to pull off a bigger version. The medium version retails for £895 and is now available in stores (I presume in UK:-) Do enquire in Singapore's Burberry stores if you are interested. However, the bag is sold online at www.burberry.com ) I think what makes the bag interesting is the patent gold leather corners and the rivets the lined the top and handles which gives it an armored feel in a luxurious way. (I am surprised that the metal looking corners are leather instead of metal plates... this means less weight for the bag which is excellent!) Very nicely designed, I 'approve' hands and legs up!:-)

Peek-A-Boo! It's Natasha Poly!

Fendi's Peek-A-Boo bag
has found its supermodel fan! Natasha Poly carrying the Fendi Raffia Peek-A-Boo with multi-coloured watersnake lining. Love the bag (I think it's a maxi size Peek-A-Boo), love Natasha, just not too sure it all goes so well together with the bag and the green Mcqueen skull scarf and outfit.

YMC Canvas And Leather Lace-ups

It is rare to find sale items from previous seasons available at the shops after the end of seasonal sales. But the joys of online shopping ensures you still find good bargains all year round, becos some online retailers retain their markdown items on their website, mostly heavily discounted. Although the selection may be very limited and usually odd sizing and designs are left, there are still gems to be uncovered for the lucky few to score a big bargain.

I managed to find a pair of shoes that I thought looked smart and casual in a TDF (to die for) price! At just US $105, it is almost too good to be true! This pair of YMC (short for You Must Create) shoes has an interesting mix of materials. Half the body is constructed of beige coloured canvas and the other half (where the shoe lace flaps are) with tan leather. A simple mix of textures and you get an interesting and drool worthy shoe. I love that casual smart appeal where you can wear it with jeans and still look preppy. Great with plaids and tweeds which is on trend for Fall Winter 2009. The shoe design worked all seasons!:-P The pointy shape and wooden sole are elegant touches and makes the shoe look dandy-ish. What can you ask of a pair of good shoes at such a good price! If you are a size 41...grab it!

As for those of you who do not know what the brand is, here's a little background of YMC:

Formed in London in 1995 by Fraser moss and Jimmy Collins in response to increasing demand for stylish, functional, modern clothing. YMC has quietly grown to become a highly significant design label. When asked how he saw the future of design, graphic artist Raymond Loewy, pioneer of American Industrial Design reasoned that "you must create your own design style" it is this philosophy that inspires YMC. YMC are not led or influenced by seasonal trends but try to provide the solution for intelligent clothing that is both wearable and distinctive. Collections gradually develop from season to season whilst a modernist approach that ensures good ideas maintain longevity. You Must Create

No Excess Baggage...Men's Document Folio

The concept of man clutches may seem a tad hard to swallow for some guys, but document folios is the perfect solution for those fuss-free, minimal baggage days. The business like nature of document folios has now been refreshed by many luxury designers and are no longer strictly for use in the corporate boardroom. Dries Van Noten has been perpetuating the document folio look for men since Spring 2009. And Bottega Veneta's Fall Winter 2009 collection also send models walking down with these in various exotic skins. All these ideas probably help to inspire more guys to shed off those big man bags for something lighter and more portable.

So what's your take on document folios? Are they still considered man clutches? Or they are of a different league of their own...something more acceptable for guys? Will you be inspired to carry them like what these real guys above did during the recent fashion week events?

Anyhow, see above for my picks on some of the most gorgeous document folios that you can 'invite' into your wardrobe:-)

My Shopping Conquest #85

Below: Junya Watanabe makes the best jackets! I love this one!

Below: The leather elbow patches is what made this jacket distinctive, as does the gorgeous tan colour!

Below: Reminiscent of hunting jackets in the old days...

Below: You cannot help but fall in love with the 'sweet' fuchsia gingham check lining...

Below: It appears even on the underside of the collar:-P

Below: Runway look of the jacket with matching vests and pants...
Panama hat rounds up the cool look!

Junya Watanabe Tan Coloured Sports Jacket With Leather Elbow Patch

Another of my Club 21 End of Season sale shopping loot...long over-delayed! Junya Watanabe has climb up my favourites chart since last season. And I am definitely looking forward to his Spring Summer 2010 collection which features even more amazing designs especially on his jackets and plaid patterns. Meanwhile, I am jolly about this Junya Watanabe Tan Coloured Sports Jacket With Leather Elbow Patch which I got during Club 21's sale in July. The leather elbow patches was a distinctive feature for the piece, resembling hunting jackets for men in the good old days. However, Junya takes classic references and reinvent them, making them contemporary for the modern dandy. The cut is slim fitted and cropped which makes it modern and smart. The fuchsia gingham checks lining, on the insides and under the collar adds some fun and colour which I absolutely adore too:-P There is always a certain charm to men wearing some pink!

A bit pricey for a cotton jacket, but I guess the leather detailing is the reason...but definitely worth investing especially when bought during the sale! It sold out fast, which goes to show I was not alone in loving this jacket:-) Versatile with jeans and even have a matching vest and pants (But I passed on those as I can never pull off a full suit). Great for some Panama adventure, wear with brogues or shorts!
