Spring Summer 2011 season presses on. Yet another new month has arrived and Burberry unveils new advertising campaign images, this time featuring March couple, Tali Lennox and Tara Ferry. If you have sensed that their family names bears some familarity, you are right. Well, both came from celebrity origins, Tali being the daughter of Annie Lennox and Tara being the son of Bryan Ferry (an English singer, musician, and songwriter).

This is a continuation of Burberry's dynamic campaign with new content and cast members each month. This monthly theme is Burberry Exotic Icons and this is the first big ad campaign for both Tara and Tali!

Burberry Prorsum Fall 2011

Burberry Prorsum's Fall 2011 collection was one seriously gorgeous rainbow parade of outerwear including some stunning wool coats in mod 1960's shapes. Burberry Prorsum Menswear PreFall 2011

Burberry Prorsum presented his menswear collection preinvernale the 2011. The famous areas are adorned with prints and fabrics or embroidery and padding still in RAM. The main characters are the colors typically those in the autumn of trenchcoats, jackets and pants, and give a young man known to the entire collection.

Below: Burberry Prorsum Fall Winter 2011 Menswear... 60's + Bold colours + Oversized coats + Sculptural shapes + Amazing Furry hats... That pretty much sums up the collection:-P

Below: Do I sense Prada Fall 2010 with these looks?:-P.. Oops...

Below: Gorgeous plaid coats with leather and shearling trim...

Below: Love the ''Jaguar Mink' fur on the hats and coats...

Below: No one likes to be rained on their parades, unless you are wearing fabulous Burberry Prorsum:-P Bravo to the showmanship for this season!

Burberry Prorsum Fall Winter 2011 Menswear

"Burberry Weather Boys - A coat for all seasons." Christopher Bailey

And it literally did. Protection from London's wet and cold winters is what Christopher Bailey had in mind, right on cue with the roots of the brand. So it was quite a spectacle to see rain literally falling onto the raincoat clad models at the end of the show. That's some showmanship by Burberry Prorsum... love it:-)

The Fall Winter 2011 Mens collection from Burberry Prorsum casts off the heavy military influences from past seasons and gets reborn into a refreshing 60's inspired elegance with outerwear being the focus of the collection. From the first showing of the plaid blanket coats in an array of bright hues to the oversize sculptural shapes, the collection immediately gets thumbs up in my books. (Although the few looks featuring the brightly coloured patent leather coats reminded me somewhat of Prada's Fall Winter 2010 collection...perhaps they both share a 60's influence). The show then proceeded on, marching in models onto the runway, wearing some of the most gorgeous brown plaid coats trimmed with shearling and leather. Of course, as the show moved on, it was evident those furry Baker Boy caps are going to be the next hot accessory come Fall Winter 2011. Matched with black and white 'Jaguar mink' long coat, the look is a formidable style statement for any winter.

I love the simplicity of the collection. Classics updated with new materials (Bonded textured nylon?!?!) and the colour theme ranging from camel, tangerine to dark charcoal ensures there will never be a dull moment in winter.

Last of all, what stood out even more were the bags that have seemingly stolen the limelight in many Burberry Prorsum shows. My favourite 5 are as follows. I am crazy about the Alligator flat briefcase with a unique tubular pallsander wood frame for the handles. Fresh shape, great size... it's my dream bag for next Fall:-P I shall start registering with Santa now for my next Christmas wishlist. Or of course, I can also raise that £15,000 within the next week and be delivered with this arm candy in the next 2 months. Where are my sponsors?!?! (A guy can dream yeah?)

Below: My top 5 picks for those arm candies... 1) Alligator Briefcase with lock (£15,000)

Below: 2) Gladstone canvas briefcase with lock (£995)

Below: 3) Gladstone canvas tote bag (£995)

Below: 4) Large Mink Fur Tote Bag (£5750)

Below: 5) Large Felt Canvas Tote Bag (£895)

So what are your favourites? Do remember you can purchase them right now at www.burberry.com and received them within 2 months. How's that for 'showing off' even before Fall 2011 season is here?:-P I'd say, the feeling will be incredible!

Ad Campaigns And Catalogues #189

Below: Burberry has innovate yet again! For Spring Summer 2011, a new set of ad campaign will be revealed each month for the whole duration of the season... now that's no expenses spared to bring the best to their customers, considering how much effort and costs it involves to create a campaign:-) Bravo, Burberry!

Burberry Spring Summer 2011 'Evolving' Ad Campaign

Fashion brands focuses a huge part of their efforts to build upon the aspirations and fantasies of their customers. And Advertising Campaigns play a major role to selling these aspirations. Often siphoning a huge chunk of their marketing budgets, these campaigns uses the best models and photographers to best exemplify the current collection's themes and mood.

To have a campaign each season is extravagant, but to show a new one each month for the entire season is phenomenal and an innovative way of outreaching to consumers. Burberry has done it yet again. Another first for the brand, Burberry has launched this new initiative thru an evolving ad campaign for their new Spring Summer 2011 season. Each month a new British cast, a new set of imagery will be launched as a way to continuously excite consumers across all the brand's sales platform (of course the successful yearly financials of Burberry, shows the confidence of the brand to have such a marketing investment). No longer will a set of images be repeated in the pages of your favourite fashion mags, store posters for a long 6 months of a season. Be prepared to be refreshed and inspired monthly for Spring Summer 2011. This is truly a welcoming innovation with no expenses spared on Burberry's part! Good job, Burberry.

For the first ad campaign for Spring Summer 2011, the setting is Brighton Beach. British models Cara Delevingne and Jacob Young show off the collection's concept of protection from the elements. The tough and luxe pieces create contrast against the natural beach background, injecting an unexpected, lateral portrayal of Christopher Bailey's ideas (I would be appalled if they just literally show off the biker-influenced collection in a biker setting!). Shot by Mario Testino, the campaign reinforces the brand's synergy with British Landscapes, weather and emerging talents.

“We wanted to create a dynamic, evolving campaign that reflects the diversity of our broad global consumer, revealing new British cast members each month, all with their own identity, embodying the different attitudes of the Burberry guy and girl. We shot the campaign on Brighton beach to celebrate the great British outdoors and our history of supporting emerging talent and to bring to life the emotion behind protection from the elements.’’

Christopher Bailey, Burberry Chief Creative Officer

My MANy Bags Trendspotting #143

Below: 'Sheer' joy of Spring Summer 2011? Men's peekaboo torso and nipples?!?! Many designers are proposing transparency for next season. Neil Barrett's Spring Summer 2011 menswear sees lots of take on this transparency trend... sheer tops anyone? I like this look, blazer to show just a little and not too overwhelming for the eyes...

Below: Leather and sheer seemed to create an interesting opposing aesthetic of tough vs. the feminine... use transparency wisely to not look effeminate and trying too hard... (Neil Barrett SS2011)

Below: If you are shy, layer the translucent top over a solid for a more subtle take... (Neil Barrett SS2011)

Below: Burberry Prorsum proposes biker's take on masculine/feminine transparency trend... netted knit top over biker style pants and tough looking sandals...

Below: Military shirts in sheer fabric for Burberry Prorsum SS2011... again, tough over soft...

Below: Even more classic brands like Bottega Veneta are also not shying away from showing subtle skin... layer a trench over, show enough of pecs to tease... chest hair in minimal amounts please:-)

Below: Not even Hermès are spared from the invasion of transparency in menswear...

Below: Givenchy SS2011 also sees men dressing in sheer shirts, who says women can only do the seductive look:-)

Below: Nipple bearing seems fundamental for Spring Summer 2011 menswear... Lanvin agrees too...:-)

Below: Alexis Mabille SS2011 Menswear... sheer and flamboyant...

'Sheer' Joy For Spring Summer 2011

Remember this guy whom I commented I was against men showing off his nipples no matter what the situation is?

Time to eat my words back... *Glurp*. It may used to be 'socially' unacceptable for men to flaunt skin thru translucent fabrics (guys who do, screamed effeminate and fetish) things are about to change. Our female counterparts have always leverage on 'seduction' thru 'now you see it, now you don't' fabrics... now it is the guy's turn to 'shine' in this arena. (One thing I find strange is that guys wearing sheer tops are feminine, but it is strangely acceptable when guys bare the full torso during summer. That's considered masculine).

For Spring Summer 2011, transparency have been a big trend on the women's runway. But it seems designers all over have decided it is just as good a fashion statement for men as well. So here we are, presented on the runways of almost every major fashion brands, be it avant garde houses like Neil Barrett, Lanvin or Givenchy, or classic houses like Hermès and Bottega Veneta... each had their interpretations of transparency to some extent.

Nipples, pecs and abs 'peeked' in abundance thru sheer fabrics, lightweight knits or netted tops... it's 'male-physique' galore for any adoring eyes:-)

I wonder how widely adopted will this transparency trend be when Spring Summer 2011 hits full steam. I know if I am to wear sheer tops, I'd do it in Neil Barrett's style, militant and tough, over blazers and utilitarian pants to oppose the femininity of this subtle exposé. Or even Burberry Prorsum's biker take, with leather jackets complete with killer strap sandals.

What say you guys? Will you ever be ready to 'peekaboo' some nipples and abs?:-) Is it 'sheer joy' or 'sheer despair' for you?
