Diesel Craft Rebel Revolution: DIY Fun!

I attended my first Diesel event, organised by Club 21 at the Diesel Store at Forum Shopping Mall, Singapore last evening. Was really nice to take the opportunity to catch up with fellow bloggers amidst all the buzz and fanfare at the event.

They say first impression wows...and seeing a male model caged up in the store window upon entering gives a good hint of the quirky fun atmosphere to be expected. Guest artist Mojoko obliged the first 30 guests with customised silk screen messages in an array of street inspired designs and neon colours. How's that for an evening of arts and craft fun! Further to the customised cushion covers, there is a work station to let you further express your creativity by embellishing your 'DIY project' with studs, beads and all the bling bling you can find!

We enjoyed the non stopping flow of mini sized Asahi beer (the can is so cute I had to down 2!), yummy brownies and mini burgers. Of course, not forgetting to 'frolic' some of the new arrivals from the Fall Winter 2011 preview collection, infused with a rebel street spirit!

Check out the collection now in all Diesel stores in Singapore!

Diesel 'The Insolent Chanson' Silk Scarf

Sale season is here. And since Sat is meant to be shopping day, I went to Diesel to do my rounds of sale scouting:-) Diesel is not exactly my style. And even Diesel Black Gold, the more pricey and 'designed' collection do not fit me as well. I was not expecting much but was curious what was on offer. So my persistence in visiting the Diesel store visit at Forum Shopping Mall did not leave me empty handed. I found a lovely silk scarf for such a steal that it would be a crime to walk away.

I picked up the very soft and billowing "The Insolent Chanson" Silk Scarf from the Diesel Black Gold collection! I remembered Joe from 00o00 mentioned on his blog previously and he even had one in white which he modelled very well in one of the store events he attended. So without hesitation, I picked up mine (at 37% off!). But in black, equally beautiful... imprinted with the musical score of "The Insolent Chanson", and with a touch of vintage charm. Lovely acquisition from an unexpected shopping expedition! Thanks to Joe:-P for the inspiration:-P

Ad Campaigns & Catalogue #23

Diesel Spring Summer 2009 Mens Ad Campaign

Tom Ford did a series of amazing, provocative ads featuring fetishes and nudity (male!) for his menswear. Seems Diesel is following in 'his footsteps' with their new Spring Summer 2009 ad campaigns.

Here's what WWD wrote:

Diesel Spring-Summer 2009 Mens Ad Campaign stars Jon Kortajarena. The Diesel ads for spring, will break in February magazines, including GQ, Details, Flaunt and Nylon, as well as outdoors in major cities like New York and L.A. Using black-and-white images shot by John Scarisbrick, the ads center on darkly enigmatic scenes such as an elderly foot fetishist worshipping model Jon Kortajarena’s Diesel high-top sneakers or a ramshackle apartment filled with cats, reports WWD

What do you guys think? Better or for worse? Creativity or copycat? They even used the same model as Tom Ford's campaign. To be honest, without reading WWD's synopsis of the ad, I did not get it. All I see is the cute Jon Kortajarena putting his foot on that old man, as if he has finished beating him up.:-) Well, that's me.
