BAFTA Awards Red Carpet Drizzle

Most sundays in February are booked up with celebrity acting awards, and this past sunday was no different with Britain's version of the Academy Awards which drew a slew of Hollywood stars looking for somewhere else to be other than L.A. Apparently it was pretty rainy and wet, typical London weather this time of year, which caused me to almost mistake Meryl Streep for Mary Poppins, umbrella and all. However the wet skies did not dampen the red carpet which was filled with Hollywood starlets and British acting veterans. If I was looking for color, however, I needn't have looked further than the actual red carpet itself, because Black was the color of the night! Lately drab-looking Angelina Jolie looked most improved in a black Armani Prive dress complete with bright yellow Harry Potter scar down the front. Kate Winslet, best actress winner, looked predictable in a snug fitting black Zac Posen, and Penelope Cruz, best supporting actress winner, looked downright matchy in her jet black halterneck gown, black eyeliner, blunt bangs, and large black umbrella. Young starlet Emma Watson, also of Harry Potter fame, looked a tad underage in long black Alice Temperley, and techno-wonder Kylie Minogue, who was probably there just for fun, wore a very pretty knee length cocktail dress. My top pick of the evening, in the only dress that wasn't black, is without a doubt the genetically gifted and stunningly outfitted Frieda Pinto, of big film winner Slumdog Millionaire, wearing a PINK and frilly Oscar De La Renta. C'est Magnifique!
